Course Description: Concentrating on clear, logical thinking as the most important element in manuscript communication, students will develop the discipline of writing focusing on writing roadmaps, precision/concision of words, and common writing pitfalls in the context of expectations for scientific publishing. At the conclusion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Analyze the relationship between clear, logical thinking and successful scientific/scholarly writing. 2. Analyze common writing problems in the student’s own and other’s writing while proposing and applying solutions. 3. Prepare a manuscript for publication submission to a peer-reviewed journal using a systematic process of manuscript development, revision, and refinement. 4. Distinguish among the requirements and processes of submission and peer-review for a variety of scientific journals.
