Pre-requisites: Philosophy of science or equivalent, and early doctoral level methods course highly preferred as pre-requisites.
Course Description: Empirical qualitative research designs and methods to build knowledge in nursing/healthcare are analyzed and critiqued including traditional and emerging approaches. Designs include: ethnography, grounded theory, narrative, case study, historical, and qualitative descriptive. Qualitative methods are applied to focused student study.
Method of Instruction: Blended online with one week intensive in Aurora, Colorado early February (2/2/10-2/5/10). Online portion uses Blackboard platform. Seminar format; students conduct a qualitative study with IRB approval.
