NURS 543* Understanding and Intervening for Common Geriatric Syndromes

Course Description: This course will provide the theoretical basis for developing competencies related to the diagnostic process, including critical thinking, differential diagnosis, and the integration and interpretation of various forms of data. The development of a plan of care, which will stabilize the health status of the older adult minimizing physical and psychological complications, and maximizing health potential will also be addressed. 3 qtr/2 sem credits

 

Method of Instruction: Online (Sakai) with 1-week intensive. The intensive will be held on campus June 21-25, 2010.

Campus visits required: One week intensive

Tuition: $675/semester credit

 

Other considerations: The course will be co-taught with Lilly Lee and Terri Harvath, PhD, RN, CNS. * The three courses of NURS 542, NURS 543 and NURS 546 are taken as a 9-quarter credit series or a 6-semester credit series - 1 week intensive and summer term of online work. This course is designed for those doctoral students who are new to gerontological nursing and are an advanced practice nurse. This course is available to both PhD & DNP students.
