Course Description: This course will provide the theoretical basis for developing competencies in conducting a comprehensive assessment of the older adult's health status for the purposes of health promotion, health protection and disease prevention. Assessment of the older adult's support systems including family will also be introduced, as well as intervention strategies for individuals and older adult populations 3 qtr/2 sem credits
Method of Instruction: Online (Sakai) with 1-week intensive. The intensive will be held on campus June 21-25, 2010.

Other considerations: The course will be co-taught with Lilly Lee and Terri Harvath, PhD, RN, CNS. * The three courses of NURS 542, NURS 543 and NURS 546 are taken as a 9-quarter credit series or a 6-semester credit series. 1-week intensive and summer term of online work. This course is designed for those doctoral students who are new to gerontological nursing and are an advanced practice nurse. This course is available to both PhD & DNP students.
