Course Description: This course includes discussion of theories, current practice, and research relevant to normal and abnormal changes in late adulthood as well as physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and environmental concepts related to advanced practice nursing and the older adult. By the end of this course, the learner will be able to: Synthesize knowledge of the interaction of individual/family/community and cultural/environmental influences on the complexity of normal and pathological processes of aging. Apply knowledge of screening, diagnosis, and management of selected pathological processes prevalent in the aging population to comprehensive primary health care of older adults. Critique selected age-related assessment tools, advanced practice strategies, and health care delivery models. And critically evaluate current theories, research, and practice related to the health care of older persons.
Method of Instruction: Online. UC Denver uses Blackboard as its e-platform.
